Flagship Clubhouse Coordinator, Museum of Science
Kasiemba (Kas) Okeyo is a talented composer, songwriter, keyboardist, and filmmaker who also has a passion for inspiring young people to find their creative selves. Born in Los Angeles to a Malawian mother and a Kenyan father, Kas was brought up on an eclectic sonic diet ranging from Paul Simon and Bob Marley to Miriam Makeba and Michael Jackson. Inspired by the film music of Tan Dun at the age of 18, Kas studied music at a local community college, then transferred to Boston’s Berklee School of Music where he studied film scoring, orchestration, songwriting, and jazz piano. Prior to joining the Clubhouse team as Coordinator of the Flagship Clubhouse, Kas worked as an after-school educator at the Los Angeles Parks and Recreation Department, and as an academic interventionist with THINK Together, a non-profit that collaborates with communities, parents, and other stakeholders to create academic excellence and equity for all kids.
